What's It About:

Lark Environmental, Inc., a dynamic woman-owned small business, is excited to offer a part-time internship position for an environmental planner or ecologist/biologist.  This remote position runs from May to August 2025 & is open to enthusiastic candidates in Casper, WY, or Madison, WI.

The ideal candidate will bring experience developing (or the will to learn) content for a range of environmental documents in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), American Indian Agricultural Resource Management Act (AIRMA), Endangered Species Act (ESA) and other federal, tribal, state, and local environmental regulations and requirements. In a remote capacity, this position will require the individual to be a self-starter and work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage varying priorities and multiple tasks while meeting concurrent deadlines on multiple projects.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Assist with researching specific data on threatened and endangered species, including potential impacts from development.
  • Conduct quality assurance review of environmental reports/documents, including National Environmental Policy Act and Endangered Species Act
  • Development of website content
  • Development of maps via ArcGIS Pro, if applicable
  • Assist with the development of public meeting materials, including but not limited to, presentations, announcements, flyers, questionnaires, community surveys
  • Project archive development


Required Education & Experience:


  • Strong interest in biology, environmental science, environmental management, or a related field.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work on a collaborative team, both internally and externally, and in both leadership and support roles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in technical writing
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.


Preferred Experience:


  • Working on bachelor’s degree in biology, planning, environmental science, environmental management, environmental policy, or a closely related field.
  • Working towards a master’s degree in biology, planning, environmental science, environmental management, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS.
  • Proficiency in technical writing of environmental documents, preferably NEPA and other planning documents.
